Site work has resumed at the future location of The Richland Hospital and Clinics (TRHC) along Highway 14, where contractors are moving and replacing thousands of cubic yards of fill material in preparation for eventual development of a new hospital facility.
Meise Construction Inc. of Sauk City, WI has restarted delivery of sand from the Muscoda Industrial Park stormwater detention pond project. About 22,000 cubic yards of material will be placed on the 40-acre parcel.
H. James and Sons is also placing material removed from the Highway 14 roadbed project to form future driveway and parking lot areas. A minimum of 40,000 cubic yards of material will be used, establishing grades for future infrastructure. H. James and Sons is responsible for grading, compaction, erosion control, topsoil placement, and seeding.
The hospital purchased the site along Highway 14 as the planned location of a new facility. In November 2023, the organization’s board of directors paused construction planning because of rising building costs. While the hospital board has not committed to a specific start date, new construction is tentatively slated for around 2032.
The sand transferred from Muscoda was obtained through a contracted agreement, while the Highway 14 fill material is being received at no cost. “This arrangement benefits both the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and our facility,” said Bruce Roesler, president and chief executive officer of The Richland Hospital and Clinics.
TRHC continues to work with the City of Richland Center on long-term site readiness, noting full construction remains several years away.
